The Neuroimaging Core and Bioinformatics Core(NIBC) was established with infrastructure funding from an R24 Mind Body Center Grant in 2004 (PI: E. Mayer, Core PI: B. Naliboff), and has been expanded with funding from a SCOR grant from NIDDK/ORWH. The NIC is located within the main CNS space at CHS 42-210. It has close interactions with the Ahmanson Lovelace Brain Mapping Center, with the UCLA Laboratory of Neuroimaging and with the PET Center at the West Los Angeles VA. The faculty of the Core has extensive expertise in all aspects of functional and structural brain imaging, as well as in PET ligand studies, including study design and data analysis.The aims of the section are to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure for: 1) collaborative studies into different aspects of brain body interactions, including studies into the interface between pain, stress and emotions, as well as different aspects of brain gut interactions. 2) testing integrative hypotheses regarding the association of CNS and peripheral responses, and 3) training in all aspects of neuroimaging as they relate to the primary goals of the Center.
